online 24/7 provides many opportunities for you to present items of interest to
the community. For Sale & Want ads are excellent candidates for the message board. It gives continuous exposure to personal ads over a number of days,
not just a one time shot as from an email. Use it for announcements including
team recruiting, club/group meetings, events, important dates/anniversaries, etc.
Double click here to launch home page < www.geocities.com/MtVernonManor >.
Local Mt Vernon/Ft Belvoir weather is available here. Then on the left panel, click on MessageBoard. [If one or two script error messages appear, ignore as minor
glitches, click 'yes' to continue.] Now post a message. You've got it! "Sell a bunch."

Neighborhood Watch [NW] - Auto Theft                       PFC Ed Rediske
Neighbors bordering the Fort Hunt Rd area keep your eyes open. In December
& January nine Jeep Cherokees were stolen. Some vehicles were quickly recovered. In several cases other stolen vehicles were left in the area where the Jeeps were taken. It appears that most of these vehicles disappeared between midnight and
5 AM. If you see a suspicious person or car in your neighborhood CALL THE POLICE  691-2131. Before calling, try to get a description of the occupants, color of the car, license plate number. Any information you can SAFELY get will help identify the car such as stickers or broken parts. Neighborhood Watch groups please make sure members are aware of this information. With the help of all the citizens in our community, the police and YOU can make a difference. Thank you,
PFC Edward Rediske, Crime Prevention Officer

Used Car lots on Richmond Highway                          Dick McManus
A new entrepreneur was reported to be selling used cars in locations scattered
up and down Route 1. He suggested big plans to expand to more locations along
the highway. Apparently, he hangs out near these makeshift lots and pops up
when someone stops to look. The operation is totally cash -- no warranties.
Of major concern is the appearance of these used cars for sale. It does not contribute to a positive image of the highway.
Officers at the police station have been alerted to the operation. It may be
possible to persuade this guy to give in or move out before he expands the
business. We can all work together on improving Richmond Highway.

Neighborhood Watch (NW) - Phone Calls                         Jim Byrne
Let me share this episode with you. A man called my house telling me I am eligible for a brand new ADT system free with all the new features such as
Fire Alarm, Wireless key and so on. I told him that I already have an ADT system.
He apologized for calling me, saying that his file needs to be updated indicating
that I already have a system.
Afterwards, I thought he may have been selecting those who do not have an
alarm system to use that as an advantage at a later time. A firm answer to most solicitations for inside/outside work is, "I just had that done. Thank you. Goodbye."
